I loved fishing with my father. When I was very young my dad and I would go crappie or bullhead fishing around Mitchell, South Dakota, where we lived. As I got older, the fishing trips became much more than just sitting on a bank and waiting for a fish to take the bait, but that's probably a different story and one I'm not about to go into right here. I wanted the fish to bite right away, I wanted action. The second was my father was a very patient man, at least with me. Not only did he tolerate my throwing pebbles into the water, running around chasing insects or just announcing my boredom to the world, but he also taught me how to fish. Like any outdoors activity, there were good days and bad days. However, I figured it out and it was something my father and I enjoyed together for many years. Not everyone is patient, I've learned that over the years as well. I've watched middle schoolers throwing temper tantrums in a store, I've had adults complain that something they've sent to the newspaper didn't get in when they wanted it to and I've witnessed people want to be better immediately upon having a...
