Clanton City Council approves bid for four storm shelters - Clanton Advertiser

Clanton’s City Council on Monday approved a bid for the construction of four storm shelters in the city. The bid of $231,940 submitted by Aqua Marine Enterprises was the lowest bid submitted and was approved unanimously. The shelters will be located at E. M. Henry Park, off Enterprise Road adjacent to the Clanton Senior Center, at Clanton City Park and in the Lomax community. Officers purchase uniforms with city credit and then pay back the owed amount through money withheld from their paychecks each month. An employee recently left the department while owing the city about $1,000, prompting the council to approve setting a limit of $780, which would cover the cost of two or three uniforms, according to police officials in attendance at the meeting. •Approved the transfer of an alcohol license for Little Suzy Q’s. The license will not move locations, but the business is changing owners. •Tabled a decision about the transfer of an alcohol license from Kokomo’s, which is located at Days Inn near Interstate 65 Exit 205, to a new location at 2031 Seventh St. S. in Clanton.
