Two injured, one critically, in Route 222 crash - EphrataReview.com

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition and a 62-year-old male also was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon that snarled rush-hour traffic on Route 222 in East Cocalico Township in the area of East Church Road, township police said. According to police, the accident occurred just before 4 p. m. when the driver of a 2006 Ford Taurus traveling southbound on Route 222 moved into the left lane to pass a line of cars. His vehicle struck the rear passenger side of a 2004 Ford Mustang that had run out of gas. The Taurus flipped onto its side, crossed both southbound lanes, and rolled several times before hitting the berm, police said. The driver of the Mustang, a 17-year-old from Lancaster, was taken to Lancaster General Hospital and was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, police said. The driver of the Taurus, a Middletown man aged 62, was taken to LGH as well. East Cocalico police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the crash to call the department at 717-336-1725.
