1 dead in crash on Detroit's west side - The Detroit News

A 16-year-old passenger died after a speeding car he was in crashed on Detroit’s west side Tuesday evening, police said. A 2002 Ford Taurus was traveling “at a high rate of speed” near Rosemont and Van Buren about 6:15 p. m. when it “lost control, hit a tree and flipped over,” said Sgt. The 16-year-old male, whose name had not been released Tuesday night, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was in police custody Tuesday night, was identified only as a 19-year-old male.
