Helping Those in Need in Greenwich - Patch.com

The Greenwich-based Needs Clearing House, in partnership with Greenwich Automotive, has helped another area resident with the donation of a vehicle so she can commute to work. Former Greenwich Resident Deanna Hartmann, who grew up in town and for the past year has resided at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, was given the keys to a 1999 Ford Explorer, on Saturday. Kaliko, who is co-president of Needs Clearing House, partnered with Chris Canavan owner of Greenwich Automotive on Hillside Avenue in Port Chester, to make the donation to Hartmann. This was the second time in a month that Needs Clearing House has partnered with Canavan to donate a car to someone in need. Veronica Correa of Greenwich received the gift of a 2000 Ford Taurus so that she can continue to work in Greenwich while she continues her search for an apartment within commuting distance of her job. Kaliko said that once the need was defined and certified by the Greenwich Department of Social Services, with whom he has a working relationship, he consulted with Canavan who identified a trade-in donation which fit Correa’s need.
