Murphysboro High School Students Restore Classic Mustang - WSIL TV

MURPHYSBORO -- Murphysboro High School is holding an unusual fundraiser. Students will get hands-on experience restoring an American classic and then raffle it off to raise money for the vocational department. With the motor missing, this car doesn't look like much right now, but students at Murphysboro High School are working hard to change that. The 1965 Ford Mustang was donated to the school last year, so Automotive and Manufacturing Instructor, Brian Tripp, decided to let his students get some hands on work with it. "I really look for them to learn how automobiles have developed," Tripp... "We're talking about 1965 and next to us we're working on a 2008 and a 2001. So where's the evolution has gone from, the engines, the transmissions to where we're at now. Tripp wants to have the Mustang completed by October, then raffle it off to raise money for the vocational department. "When we reach our 2000 ticket sales then we're going to give it away in some special event that we'll have here at school," Tripp said. "The kids are learning a lot of stuff, they're trying to figure out how things go together and the biggest things are some of the troubles we run into," Tripp said. Source: www.wsiltv.com
