Two taken to hospitals after crash on State Road 45 - Brown County Democrat

-- Four people were involved in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 45 Tuesday morning, and two of them were taken to hospitals. Jeremy Scales, 34, of Nashville, was driving east on State Road 45 shortly before 8 a. m. When he came to the intersection with Carmel Ridge Road, a dog ran out in front of his company's Ford F450 flatbed dually pickup, police said. Scales and another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction slowed almost to a stop to avoid hitting the dog. Austin Wagler, 18, of Morgantown, was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup behind Scales. Police said Wagler did not notice that Scales had slowed and his truck hit the back of Scales' truck. Wagler was unable to steer into the opposite lane because of the oncoming traffic that had also slowed for the dog, police said. Another passenger in Scales' vehicle was uninjured, police said.
