Weak car, Scion results offset strong truck deliveries at Toyota - Automotive News

The company’s total sales for the month came in at 217,181, just 1,379 (0. 6 percent) more than a year ago. Sales for the Toyota brand rose 1 percent to 183,500 vehicles but Scion volume slid 25 percent. Lexus, powered by the new NX small crossover, roared ahead 9. 1 percent to unit sales of 29,816. That total enabled Lexus to best both BMW and Mercedes-Benz for the month, the first time Lexus has managed the feat since August 2014. But the trend... Overall, Toyota-brand car sales declined 5. 2 percent on the month. It was a similar picture at Lexus -- the luxury brand’s car sales declined 5. 3 percent.
