Toyota is set to take parts suppliers to task over counterfeit components labelled as the real deal. The manufacturer says it took the decision to pursue Federal Court proceedings following a six-month investigation "against two independent retailers that have been selling counterfeit airbag spiral cables and advertising them as genuine Toyota... "We are concerned that customers have been misled into believing they have purchased a genuine Toyota part," Toyota says. Toyota says customers should only replace the part following an accident that triggered the driver's airbag. Toyota's action should not affect customers who were caught up in the manufacturer's April 2014 recall of nearly 180,000 HiLux utes for potentially faulty spiral cables as those models should have been repaired at Toyota dealers using genuine...
