Closely following the industry’s downsizing trend, the GS adopts a new 2. 0-liter, four-cylinder engine that uses a twin-scroll turbocharger to make 241 horsepower at 5,800 rpm — 70 less than the GS 350, the next model up — and 258 foot-pounds of... Also found in the NX, the IS and the Euro-spec RC , the turbo four sends the entry-level GS 200t from 0 to 60 mph in 7. 2 seconds and on to a top speed of 130 mph. That’s noticeably slower than the GS 350, but the smaller engine helps the 200t return an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, increases of 2 and 4 mpg, respectively, over the 350. The four-cylinder can’t be ordered with... Moving out of the engine bay, the GS gains a much bigger rendition of the spindle grille that characterizes every member of the Lexus lineup, a new front bumper with bigger air vents and sharper headlights that fall in line with the company’s... More Than a Fancy Toyota If you think all Lexus models are just Toyotas with sassy style and higher price tags, think again. While the ES sedan shares much with America's best-selling Camry under the skin, our GS is a rear-drive-based sport sedan that's more a downsized version of the flagship LS than sportier ES. Think of it as Lexus' E-Class, CTS, A6, or 5-Series -... It's actually tough to distinguish the GS from other Lexus models with its spindle grille, cleanly sculpted bodysides, and kinked rear windowline. Lexus is finally grafting some attitude into its designs and they're better for it. I'm especially smitten with the F-Sport version's mesh grille, aggressive front and rear facias, 19-inch alloys, lip spoiler, and rear diffuser with fins to... Hustling to meet Mr. Champion, I mostly saw the GS from inside. Being a Lexus, everything is well-made and expertly-crafted. All versions of the GS get the blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert system as standard equipment, and the Lexus Safety System + is optional. Safety System + includes collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking and lane-departure warning with steering assist. Beyond the freshened styling, the LX also gets the eight-speed automatic, which helps boost the EPA fuel economy by an estimated 1 mpg to 13 mpg city/18 mpg highway. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and the Lexus Safety System + are both standard. Inside, the LX has been upgraded with a new 12. 3-inch infotainment display and the Remote Touch interface. Both the GS and LX are available with the Lexus Enform Remote, which is an app-based system (for iOS and Android) that gives the user the ability to start or stop the engine and climate system remotely, monitor “guest” drivers, remotely...
