2016 Kia Sportage revealed ahead of Frankfurt debut - new interior pictures - Autocar

The fourth-generation Kia Sportage has been revealed with a brand new look ahead of the car’s official public debut at this month’s Frankfurt motor show, with these latest pictures showing the car's interior for the first time. The new Sportage gets totally new styling at the side and rear, although the biggest changes are at the front. The headlights are no longer integrated into the grille, as they were on the third-generation Sportage, but now sit higher up on the side of the bonnet. This leaves the now familiar Kia nose, which features on the majority of the company’s range, with a stand-alone grille. Read our Kia Sportage prototype first drive here. It also gets a larger lower grille, with a silver coloured kickplate on the lower edge. At the side, the Sportage retains its traditional SUV-like styling but has a marginally more raked profile than before. Kia will unveil the fourth-generation Sportage at Frankfurt a month from now. Designed in Europe – Frankfurt, coincidentally – the new Sportage bears some resemblance to the 2013 KX3 concept. Inside, you can expect Kia to pull out all the stops in a bid to shift the vehicle upmarket as it bids to keep moving away from its old budget image. Kia says you can expect the Sportage to have the best-quality interior it has ever made. It hasn’t yet given out any clues as to the engines it’ll offer, but the range is likely to start with a newer, cleaner version of the 1. 6 from the current range and climb to offer a 2. 0-litre diesel range-topper driving all four wheels.
