Swindle's Jewelry: A shining tradition since 1943 - Stephenville Empire-Tribune

The couple lived on $1 a day at the time of the store opening, but those hardships didn’t stop the Swindles. In the store's first location, the couple used the back of the store to host a watch making school for WWII vets. The Swindles taught the veterans how to service the watches, then closed the school in 1958. Today, the store is owned and operated by G. A. “Pinkie” and Hilda Swindle. The second generation of Swindles have been running the store for over 40 years. The Swindles have a passion for jewelry, which can be witnessed in their attention to detail in their custom jewelry. Van Zandt hand engraves custom pieces from rings and pendants to hand guns and rifles. Swindle’s Jewelry also makes custom class rings from their own design. Now the store boasts over 20 different styles and has made custom class rings for other universities.
