Chase sets off chain-reaction crash, washer knocked off scaffold - Chicago Tribune

(William DeShazer, Chicago Tribune) A BMW chased an Infiniti on the Near North Side early this morning, ramming it and setting off a chain-reaction accident that knocked a 25-foot scaffolding out from under a window-washer, according to police. The chase began around 3:25 a. m. as the Infiniti was headed east on Ohio Street, according to police. It was unclear what started the chase, but the driver of the Infiniti told officers he thought he recognized the driver of the BMW, according to preliminary police reports. The BMW started following the Infiniti and rear-ended it, police said. The Infiniti driver said the BMW driver brandished a weapon and then he heard gunshots, but police have not confirmed that any shots were fired, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. The Infiniti continued east on Ohio Street and was rammed again by the BMW, causing the Infiniti to lose control and collide with a taxi near Ohio and State streets, Mirabelli said. Either the Infiniti or the truck then crashed into scaffolding where a worker was cleaning the windows of a restaurant, police said. The Infiniti is registered to Carlos Rivera of Palatine, who said he had sold the car to a friend. Source: articles.chicagotribune.com

Pontiac Aztek tops Edmunds' list of '100 Worst Cars of All Time' - WNEM Saginaw

The 2001 Pontiac Aztek has earned the title of "Worst Car of All Time," according to Edmunds' InsideLine. InsideLine said that the Aztek topped the list because it "drove the biggest and last nails into Pontiac's heavily side-clad, plastic coffin. "If it weren't for the bad cars, how could the world appreciate the good ones. "There's a good idea at the heart of all of these cars, but it's a good idea betrayed by half-effort engineering, haphazard quality and cynical compromises. The vehicles that follow the Aztek in the top five include:. 1974 Ford Mustang II – " Built upon the spindly bones of the Pinto, this shrunken, malformed pony was instantly appalling to Mustang lovers. 1955 BMW Isetta – " Originally designed by Italy's Iso, BMW built the atrocious, single-cylinder 12-hp, one-door Isetta for 7 years. 1971 Chevrolet Vega – "An engine that couldn't hold oil, in a car built with contempt for its buyers. It's the car that invited Americans to buy Toyotas and Hondas. The vehicles included on Edmunds' InsideLine. com's list span most of the last 100 years, dating back to the 1917 Chevrolet Series D, which came in at #11. Affinity for Infiniti – 2012 G25x AWD Sedan - Greeley Gazette

I have been presented three Infiniti automobiles for review, and must say I have enjoyed them all. The least expensive of those three was brought over last week, the G25x all-wheel drive four-door sedan. Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan Motor Company, and has been shipping cars to America for a bit more than 22 years. The first model that arrived here was the 1990 Q45, a big V-8 powered four-door, followed later that year by the M30, a smaller two-door sedan. Infiniti sales languished for about ten years until they introduced the G35, a mid-size sedan. The G25x came out about 18 months ago as a 2011 model, and complements the popular G37 at the lower end of the Infiniti lineup. The G37 has a bigger power-plant, but both are the same size five-passenger sedans. Fuel economy is a calling card for the little G25, and the “x” on its nomenclature refers to all-wheel drive configuration. My G25x sported fuel economy ratings of 19/city and 27/highway (mpg), and on a trip to Cheyenne, I observed a reading of 28. 5 mpg. The V-6 is mounted aft of the front axle and that allows a nice 55/45% front to rear weight distribution. Source: www.greeleygazette.com
