Cheswick man found guilty in fatal DUI crash on Route 28 - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The defense admitted that Jared Schillinger’s blood alcohol level was nearly three times Pennsylvania’s legal limit when his car rear-ended an 18-year-old woman’s vehicle on Route 28 two years ago, killing her. But, attorney Owen Seman argued to the judge, his client did not show any of the typical signs of impairment in a driver with a 0. 231 blood alcohol level, including slurring his words or stumbling. If that was the case, Mr. Seman asked Common Pleas Judge Thomas E. Flaherty, then how could it be said that driving under the influence was the direct and substantial cause of the crash.
