Police: Man accused of Salina hotel robbery arrested when chase ends in Syracuse - Syracuse.com

-- A robbery suspect who led police on a chase Wednesday was arrested in the city of Syracuse after he crashed with another vehicle, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said. A suspect threatened a hotel employee and said he had a handgun. He wore sunglasses and was seen leaving the hotel in a maroon Ford Taurus. A deputy responding to the robbery spotted a vehicle in front of the Pilot Truck Stop on Seventh North Street that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, said Detective Jon Seeber, speaking for the sheriff's office. The deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped off, heading south on Court Street for several miles until deputies lost sight of the vehicle near West Kirkpatrick and North Geddes streets. Minutes later the suspect was spotted at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Velasko Road, Seeber said. As the suspect was going east on Grand Avenue his vehicle crashed with a 1994 Buick that was trying to turn off Hoefler Street onto Grand Avenue, Seeber said. The suspect, who was the only person in the Ford Taurus, was arrested at the scene. The driver is in critical condition and the passenger is in serious condition, Seeber said. Cops responded to bitter breakup a month before Loop murder-suicide - Chicago Sun-Times

Officers were called to the home of a Tinley Park man and his fiancée about a month before he fatally shot her and took his own life in a Loop business last week, according to the suburban police department’s reports. Richard Idrovo, 45, and Alma Hernandez, 44, were having a bitter breakup on July 16. Tinley Park Police went to their home, and he accused her of stealing his gun and a Rolex watch. 14, Idrovo shot Hernandez at the AmeriCash Loan store in the 100 block of West Van Buren near the Chicago Board of Trade. But Tinley Park police records show they were going through a nasty split on July 16. About 10:30 p. m. that night, officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance. According to a police report, Hernandez told officers that she asked Idrovo’s sister and brother to come to the house to help her tell him she wanted to end her six-year relationship with Idrovo. She told police Idrovo was locked in a bedroom where he kept two guns. “It should be noted that Richard made no comments to harm himself or anyone else tonight,” an officer wrote in a Tinley Park police report obtained Thursday by the Chicago Sun-Times through a public records request. And Tuesday, agents pulled over a Ford Taurus in the mines road area. The driver refused to stop, but later the driver did stop and ran away. Laredo police took custody of the subject, vehicle and marijuana. Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector encounter narcotics in two separate cases. On August 17, 2015, agents assigned to the Laredo North Station observed 6 subjects attempting to smuggle bundles of marijuana into the United States while working their assigned duties. On August 18, agents assigned to the Laredo North Station attempted to make a vehicle stop on a Ford Taurus in the Mines Road area. The vehicle initially failed to yield but later exited the roadway where the driver absconded and the passenger was apprehended with the assistance of the Laredo Police Department. The Laredo Police Department took custody of the subject, vehicle and marijuana. The Laredo Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
