SARASOTA, FL (WFLA) – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has located 89-year-old Lucretia C. Hoepner and her husband James. Earlier Tuesday, employees had called authorities beacuse Lucretia C. Hoepfner (Moore) had advanced dementia and Alzheimer’s and was missing. Her husband, James Hoepfner, also suffered from dementia which caused the Silver Alert. But maybe you can keep that old Escort GT on the road for another year, giving it one more chance for glory. Yeah, I’m something of a sap like that, but if you’ve ever given your car a name, you probably know the exact feeling I’m talking about. That’s why, as long as I can turn a wrench and hold a paint gun, I will always enjoy shopping for old and cheap used cars. Here are a few other reasons why going old can be more rewarding than going new. And so you don’t think I’m just pulling this out of my behind, I’m using a few of my personal cheap car challenges over the last 15 years as examples. Damage to property: 300 block of James St. 1990 Toyota Camry windshield broken ($300) and a window to a home broke ($100). Criminal damage to motor vehicle: 200 block of Second St. Unknown object hit hood of moving 2007 Ford Taurus, causing $200... Burglary: maintenance shop at 2500 Pine St. $500 in tools stolen, along with 2004 Yamaha blue four-wheeler ($4,000) and a 2015 Toro Workman dump-bed utility vehicle ($7,000).
