Stats show large rise in DUI arrests around Fourth - Daily Republic

For example, the South Dakota Highway Patrol made more than 2,100 arrests for DUI last year, averaging about six DUI arrests per day across the state. Over the two-day span of July 3 and July 4, 2014, 35 DUI arrests were made by Highway Patrol officers. Specifically, 23 were on Independence Day last year, meaning it was four times the average number of arrests for a single day. Last weekend, South Dakota was one of the states nationwide participating in "Operation Dry Water," which is a campaign of the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Considering numbers only from the Highway Patrol, 2,165 DUI arrests were made in 2014, which is down nearly 300 arrests from 2010. Miller said patrols and saturation efforts to curb drinking and driving are planned around events where they know...   IMO, the electric switch is a joke. I don't know what is so hard about reaching down to pull a lever but i guess it's to complicated for most. yes my pickup has it. but it's going away pretty soon. and if it's really cold out, ie. 5* F or lower. it will not engage or disengage. it pretty much locks up the actuator.

  Ford has replaced its manually locking front-hub and four-wheel drive truck transfer case system with a push-button system that it calls "Touch Drive." The Touch Drive system is operated using an electric shift selector switch located on the instrument panel. Two buttons are used marked "4x4" and "Low Range." Indicator lights are to the lower right of the instrument cluster. Problems with the 4x4 can be related to the indicator lights, speeds when shifting, and unlocking the hubs. These kinds of problems can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps.

  Other People Are Reading Four Wheel Drive Locking Front Hubs Troubleshooting How to Disengage a Stuck Four-Wheel Drive Line Instructions

  Look for two small amber lights next to the two buttons if you have difficulty identifying which mode of 4x4 the transfer case is in. They are in addition to the instrument cluster lights. No lights will be illuminated when the transfer case is in two-wheel drive. The light next to the "4x4" button will be lighted when any four-wheel drive mode is on. The light next to the "Low Range" button will illuminate when the four-wheel drive is in low range mode.

  Press the buttons at the correct speed if the 4x4 won't come on. The "4x4" button can be pressed to change from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 55 MPH. If it's very cold, you may have to slow down or even stop to make the shift. Press the button while the light is on to go back into two-wheel drive at any speed.

  Reverse the F350 to free the front hubs if they won't free. Unlike a manual transfer case, the 4x4 selector switch automatically locks the hubs when engaging four-wheel drive. It does not, however, disengage them automatically. You need to reverse the truck for about 6-feet to free the hubs after pressing the "4x4" button again to engage two-wheel drive.

  Just a basic intro on how the Ford 4wd front hubs work as well as identification of the major components...there are much more detailed videos on youtube with pressure info, solenoid time cycles, etc... this is just an intro and some easy to trouble shoot items. Hope it helps someone.....

  Ford 4 wheel drive problem

  We had manual Warn hubs installed during year 2000. The vacuum lines are plugged by the dealer that installed the hubs. Afterwards, the 4 wd has always worked great until last week. When I turn the switch to engage the 4 wd, I have a buddy watch the front driveline to see if it turns, it does not move.

  I can manually lock the hubs and the driveline with turn as it should but the transfer case is not engaged because of the issue I'm trying to identify. The switch on the dash does nothing when I select 4h or 4L.

  The switch on top of the TC, does it have a relay somewhere, or what do you think the problem could be?
