Hiram Township man pleads guilty to driving drunk in Garrettsville - Ravenna Record Courier

A Hiram Township man charged with felony drunken driving after being stopped by a Garrettsville police officer in November 2014 has pleaded guilty to, and been sentenced on, a reduced charge. Pitsinger, 41, of 6635 Hankee Road, pleaded guilty to a reduced first-degree misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle under the influence, second offense, in front of retired Portage County Common Pleas Judge John Enlow in May. Judge Becky Doherty sentenced Pitsinger to 180 days in the Portage County jail starting Sept. She suspended 170 of the jail term on the condition Pitsinger spend two years on probation. After 45 days "hard-time" suspension, he will be allowed driving privileges for work, probation and counseling appointments and recovery meetings. Pitsinger was indicted by a grand jury in November 2014 on one count of operating a vehicle under the influence, a fourth-degree felony with two specifications, after being arrested for driving drunk in Garrettsville on Nov. The arrest was his sixth arrest or conviction for drunken driving since 1996. Court record show he was convicted of misdemeanor drunken driving in Portage County Municipal Court in 2012, 2000, 1998 and 1996, and Newton Falls Municipal Court in...
