2015 Ford F-150 SuperCab: Car Seat Check - Cars.com News

In crew-cab form, the 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew easily passed our Car Seat Check. Its roomy backseat not only fit three car seats, but the pickup truck's 43. 9 inches of rear legroom easily handled space-eating rear-facing car seats too. Its short seat cushion caused us to give it an F for the infant-safety seat install. The F-150 SuperCab is just as wide as the F-150 SuperCrew and can fit three child-safety seats across its backseat as long as none are rear-facing infant seats. However, it fails our criteria for fitting three car seats across the backseat because the infant seat fails our tests. What We Like The F-150 SuperCab has two sets of exposed lower Latch anchors in the outboard seats. The truck's flat seat cushions made it easy to install our high-back booster seat. What We Don't The rear seat cushion is short lengthwise and didn't provide a big enough surface for our rear-facing infant seat's base. For a safe car-seat installation, 80 percent of a car seat's base must be on the seat cushion. We took some rough measurements of our car seat's base and the seat cushion and determined that less than 80 percent of it was on the seat. Source: www.cars.com

The 2015 Ford F-150 Super Cab pickup truck is seen in a crash test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. But the Super Cab version, which has a smaller rear door and back seat, did poorly in a small front overlap test, which slams 25 percent of the front of the truck into a barrier at 40 miles per hour. There was more than a hint of scandal to the U. S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) latest pronouncements on July 30. SENIOR ONLINE EDITOR RORY CARROLL: The 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is one of the few gas guzzlers that makes a trip to the gas station exciting . In a Toyota Prius , buying more gas allows you to travel more miles. In the Raptor, buying more gas is like buying more fun. But I do love this truck. That Ford's radical factory prerunner actually sells has to be icing on the cake. Not because it isn't awesome -- it is -- but because it's hard to imagine whose lifestyle a truck that's built to fly through the desert at 100 mph actually fits into. My time with our Raptor was mostly city driving in Detroit and Lansing, Mich. Rather than wishing I was out in the country, I found myself tooling around the city looking for stuff to drive over and jump. Really, if you can get past the fact that you look a certain way driving a truck like this, and that it's going to cost you a fortune in gas, it's pretty easy to live with. Political correctness aside, it is fun to drive a monster truck. EDITOR WES RAYNAL: Two friends of mine, I'll call them Joe and Calvin because, well, their names are Joe and Calvin, both owned Ford F-150s. Both worked in construction, one on homes and the other on commercial buildings.
