Family of cancer patient loses everything while traveling through Indiana - WRTV Indianapolis

- A Pennsylvania family was robbed of almost everything they own while they stayed overnight at a Plainfield motel. The family was driving cross-country to relocate in Los Angeles for treatment for their 8-year-old daughter’s rare form of bone cancer. Amber and Jason Griffin, 8-year-old Nevaeh, her 2-year-old brother and two dogs stopped at the Baymont Inn off Interstate 70 in Hendricks County on Thursday evening. "I just want whoever took the truck to see how much stress this is causing us. We have enough stress in our life right now," Amber said. Her mother said they recently learned chemotherapy wasn’t working, so the family decided to pack up and head to California for a $65,000 radiation procedure. The stolen truck contained medical records, special diets, financial records for medical coverage, all of Nevaeh and her brother’s toys and the entire family’s clothing and belongings. Jason said he will load his family into a rental car Saturday and continue their trip to California, determined to arrive before Nevaeh's first appointment next Thursday. The family will leave Indiana with a plea to those who likely didn't know who they were stealing from. "Please just drop it off somewhere and call from a pay phone and just return our stuff if not anything," Amber said. Police said the missing diesel truck is a white 2000 Ford F-250 with crew cab, four-wheel drive with Pennsylvania plate ZGM 1239. Call police with any information. Source: www.theindychannel.com
