DETROIT, MI - Consumer Reports says it weighs a lot of factors when evaluating vehicles, putting them through 50 "rigorous instrumental tests and other evaluations" at its 327-acre test track. One thing that obviously is not taken into account, is how well the car has been selling in the meantime. So when the publication calls the Chrysler 200 one of the worst cars of 2015, it comes as FCA's midsize sedan is selling extremely well: Through August of this year, sales of the Chrysler 200 have jumped 112 percent to 135,709 units on an annual... One of the reasons it's selling well is because the 2015 Chrysler 200 is an all-new model, updated from a previous generation that dated back to 2007. Consumers have seemed to like the styling of the 2015 Chrysler 200 better than the outgoing model. But Consumer Reports has harsh words for both the new model and its predecessor:. For all of the effort Chrysler put into this car, the 200 suffers from a raspy four-cylinder engine, unrefined transmission, klutzy handling, and a cramped rear seat that only a submariner could appreciate. 2015 Chrysler 200 Recalled For Electrical Problem That Can Lead To Stalling - The Car Connection

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling nearly 86,000 Chrysler 200 sedans from the 2015 model year. According to the automaker, some of those vehicles may suffer from an electrical problem that could cause the car's engine to stall. In some instances, the connectors can cause the sedan's engine to stall or shift the car into neutral. While that sounds pretty dire, the good news is that owners should be notified by a dashboard warning light if there's a problem in their vehicle. The better news is, the problem doesn't interfere with the functionality of the 200's airbags. So even if the glitch were to result in an accident, the car's airbags should work as normal. The recall affects a total of 85,816 Chrysler 200 sedans worldwide. After receiving those notices, owners will be able to take their vehicles to a Chrysler dealer, who will carry out repairs at no charge. Source: www.thecarconnection.com

2015 Chrysler 200 Long-Term Update: Drivability - Kelley Blue Book

There's much to admire about the 2015 Chrysler 200, it has a stylish exterior, elegant interior and one of the best infotainment systems on the market today in the form of Uconnect. And while the driving dynamics of the car are well sorted out, the day-to-day drivability has not been up to the standards of the rest of the car. Within the first month, we noticed that the shifts, particularly the one-two up- and downshifts, were a bit harsh. When the car returned, the shift harshness was still noticeable. These issues aside, our Chrysler 200, which is equipped with the base 184-horsepower 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder engine, provides efficient and smooth operation once up to speed. However, there's a disconnect between the electric-assist steering, which has the weighting of a sport sedan, and the throttle tip-in and brakes, which are quite sensitive, especially during low-speed maneuvering. But for low speed smoothness, one has to be measured in the initial application of either the accelerator or brake pedal lest your passengers' heads go bobbing. Perhaps it was the intent to give the car a bit of edge to go along with the slick styling-but for a family sedan, perhaps a touch lighter steering and a bit more resistance on the pedals would make for an easier and more intuitive driving.
