2014 Ford F-150 Superlift Suspension Install - Fordified F-150 - Four Wheeler Network

Superlift’s current-generation F-150 6-inch suspension system was reportedly the first aftermarket lift kit certified to comply with the FVMSS 126 traction-control stipulation (see sidebar). The company recently updated the kit to fit ’14 F-150s, which have different control arms and front strut mounts from ’09-’13 models. Replacing the factory knuckles is common with most IFS kits. Increasing the truck’s track width creates more clearance for knuckles, calipers, wheels, and tie-rods. So the engineering challenge here is to design a knuckle that spreads the ball joints 6 inches farther apart while keeping alignment within factory spec and also clearing popular wheel fitments—ideally without having to add thick track-increasing... Superlift accomplished this by starting with Ford’s chassis CAD files. The replacement knuckles are computer-designed in SolidWorks, then the CAD files program the in-house laser-cutter. To recap, we started with a base-model diesel Ford F-250 Super Duty, and by “base-model” we mean a two-door with rollup windows, a vinyl floor, no CD player, and no cruise control (July ’13). When we last left our illustrious F-250 builders, they had just finished building the stock Dana 60 and Sterling axles with ARB Air Lockers, Nitro Gear & Axle axleshafts, and Axletech portal gearboxes (Oct. When you multiply the stock 3. 55 gear ratio times the 1. 5 portal gear ratio, these new axles have a 5. 32 final drive, plus they add 5 inches of ground clearance. When we changed from the stock knuckles to the Reid Racing inner Cs, we removed the stock track bar mount from the axle, so a new one was built of 1?4-inch plate.
